SWITZERLAND - I-Source funds BeamExpress SA with $1.3m
I-Source has provided $1.3m to BeamExpress SA, a developer of vertical cavity surface-emitting laser technology. The proceeds will be used to expand the team and move from prototype to series production.
BeamExpress SA designs and manufactures, in cooperation with EPFL, the Swiss Institute of Technology in Lausanne, high-speed long-wavelength lasers, with extremely low power consumption for next generation high-speed computing and communication applications. The founders Jean-Claude Charlier and Professor Eli Kapon launched BeamExpress SA as a Spin-off of BeamExpress Inc. when it got sold to NeoPhotonics Inc. in 2006. The Intellectual Property of the VCSEL technology was transferred at that time to the new entity headquartered in Lausanne.
