UK - Hotbed members back HealthFund with £1.45m
Members of Hotbed, the UK's largest syndicator of private investors, have completed a ТЃ1.45m investment into innovative health insurance start-up business HealthFund.
HealthFund was launched in October 2007 and officially opened for business in November 2008. The firm offers an alternative to traditional health insurance premiums; offering members a unique combination of an interest-bearing fund that remains the property of the member, health insurance that can include children and grandparents under one policy, and a medical helpline staffed by nurses and doctors, who arrange treatment for patients and settle the bills. Furthermore, as members contribute more towards the initial cost of their private treatment than with standard policies, the cost of the insurance, which pays for the more expensive and serious treatment, can potentially be reduced by up to 80%.
