SPAIN - Advent looks at exit opportunities for Parques Reunidos
According to reports in the Spanish press, Advent International has hired investment bank UBS and M&A boutique Socios Financieros to find a a new financial partner for its portfolio company Parques Reunidos. Both advisers are looking at strategic options and should have a list ready within a month.
Advent reportedly paid EUR 173m for the leisure complex in 2003, and has so far backed the acquisitions of French water park Marineland and Italian park Mirabilandia last summer. Parques is forecasted to record a turnover of EUR 160m in 2006. Before Advent's acquisition, it concentrated mainly on Spain. Three years on, over 50% of the company's business originates from the international markets in which it operates.
Initially, the private equity firm will not look for a complete divestment. It has not decided on the percentage to be disposed either, but it will all depend on the options available.
