CVC, KKR back AVR/Van Gansewinkel with €520m
Private equity firms CVC and Kohlberg, Kravis and Roberts (KKR) have injected €520m into their portfolio company, waste management firm AVR/Van Gansewinkel.
This is the latest move by the company to restructure its operations. Earlier this year, the firm cut 300 jobs.
In early 2006, a CVC-led consortium backed by KKR and Oranje-Nassau Group acquired Dutch waste disposal company Afvalverwerking Rijnmond (AVR) for €1.4bn. A year later, Van Gansewinkel was acquired in a deal estimated at €800m.
It is understood that the company currently has a €1.7bn debt financed by ING, ABN Amro and BNP Paribas.
