Madvertise spinout raises $5m in series-A round
Software-as-a-service (SaaS) platform LiquidM, a spinout of German start-up Madvertise, has raised a $5m funding round from Earlybird, Blumberg Capital and Asset Management.
The fresh capital was used to launch mobile advertising platform LiquidM as an independent firm in the US and put an emphasis on its product marketing. LiquidM used to operate as an in-house technology unit for Madvertise.
As part of the spin-off process, former Madvertise CEO Christof Wittig now heads LiquidM.
The company's SaaS platform allows mobile media buyers to optimise their management processes across a range of performance-based advertising methods.
The firm is headquartered in San Francisco, with additional offices in Berlin, New York, London and Singapore. It works for clients such as M&C Saatchi, Orange, Fetch, Madvertise Media and Mobilike, a Madvertise subsidiary in Turkey.
Madvertise received a series-A funding round in 2008, with Earlybird and Team Europe Ventures investing in the advertising firm.
Two years later, the Berlin-based business raised a $10m series-B round from lead investor Earlybird and Blumberg.
