CMS hires Clifford Chance’s Wolfgang Richter
CMS Hasche Sigle has hired former Clifford Chance partner Wolfgang Richter in its Frankfurt office.
Richter will focus on equity and capital market law and transactions from 1 May. He had previously worked for Clifford Chance since 1989 and was promoted to partner in 1993.
CMS stated it was committed to expanding its equity and M&A divisions further. At present, the firm's Frankfurt office hosts nine partners and 11 associates.
Richter is the latest of several partners to leave Clifford Chance in recent weeks. In February, former corporate advisory head Arndt Stengel was appointed as partner by Milbank Tweed Hadley & McCloy, while Oliver Felsenstein was a notable departure. Felsenstein left for a partner position at Latham & Watkins, having previously been promoted to head of corporate advisory at Clifford Chance in September 2014. Burc Hesse, a former Clifford Chance partner active in M&A and private equity, joined Latham alongside Felsenstein.
CMS advised VR Equitypartner on its acquisition of frozen convenience food business Karl Kemper Group in July last year.
