Index Ventures leads $5.5m Dubsmash series-A
Index Ventures has led a $5.5m series-A funding round for Berlin-based Dubsmash, a video messaging app.
Lowercase Capital, Eniac Ventures, Sunstone Capital, Raine Ventures and King Digital Entertainment CEO Riccardo Zacconi also participated in the round.
The company will use the funding for new hires and for infrastructure improvements.
Index Ventures primarily invests between €500,000-20m in companies operating in technology and life-sciences sectors in Europe, with a focus on Switzerland and Israel.

Launched in November 2014 and based in Berlin, Dubsmash is a video messaging app that allows users to create and share dubbed selfie videos. It has had more than 75 million installations since its launch.
People
Roland Grenke is co-founder of Dubsmash. Danny Rimer, a partner at Index Ventures, will join the board of Dubsmash.
