GetYourGuide raises $25m series-B
Spark Capital and Highland Capital Partners Europe have injected $25m into GetYourGuide, an online travel activities booking platform, as part of the firm's series-B round.
Both investors participated in the company's series-A round in 2013.
The company will use the fresh funding to expand into new markets and to develop its mobile offering.
Previous funding
In January 2013, Spark and Highland invested $14m in the company as part of its series-A. The firm had already raised $2m from PROfounders Capital and other investors in March the previous year.
In April 2013, the business bought Berlin-based Gidsy, a peer-to-peer platform backed by Sunstone Capital, Index Ventures and other private investors. As part of the deal, the VCs that were invested in Gidsy were given a stake in GetYourGuide.
Four months later, GetYourGuide bought New York-based IGottaGuide, a platform that connects tourists with local guides.
November saw the company win a Seven Ventures pitch day and with it €4m in advertising funding from the venture arm of ProSiebenSat.1.
In January 2014, Sunstone Capital invested in the business in a $4.5m series-A extension round led by two angel investors.
