Siparex backs Groupe Packing
Siparex has acquired a minority stake in the French wine logistics firm Groupe Packing, alongside company president Charles Roux.
Siparex drew capital for the investment from Siparex Midcap 3, which closed on €170m in November last year. The fund typically supports French mid-market businesses with equity tickets of €3-12m.
The GP intends to support Groupe Packing's plans to acquire bottling and logistics businesses. Moreover, a three-year investment programme should help the business to see a 30% increase in production and storage capacity.
Company
Groupe Packing, which operates Sobemab and 3S, is a French wine storage, packaging, bottling and logistics specialist.
The group uses industrial sites in the Burgundy region for Sobemab and in the Languedoc area for 3S. From there it manages the storage and the preparation of wine, the packaging of a variety of containers, the storage of finished products, the preparation of orders, and shipment.
Sobemab and 3S together generate a €40m turnover.
