Oxford Capital leads $7m round for Kobojo
Oxford Capital has led a $7m round for VC-backed Kobojo, a French mobile games developer.
The investment will finance the launch of the company's latest title, Zodiac, and enable it to invest in the development of other new games.
The Scottish Investment Bank and existing backer Endeavour Vision Capital also took part in the round.
Oxford Capital stated the company's specialisation in touchscreen technology makes it a potential target for companies looking to consolidate the currently fragmented market.
The VC is familiar with the mobile gaming market, having led a $5m round for Dundee-based free-to-play games developer Outplay in June 2014.
Previous funding
Endeavour Vision led a €5.3m series-A round for Kobojo in April 2011, with capital drawn from its €100m Endeavour II vehicle. Idinvest Partners also took part in the round.
Company
Headquartered in Paris and founded in 2008, Kobojo develops computer games for touchscreen devices. The company's most successful title to date is Mutants: Genetic Gladiators. The business has an additional development studio in Dundee.
