Ouest Croissance et al. in €18m round for Beauty Success
Ouest Croissance, a minority shareholder in French retail chain Beauty Success since 2008, has led an €18m capital injection into the business alongside regional investors Grand Sud-Ouest Capital and Charente Périgord Expansion.
Beauty Success will dedicate the funds raised during the round to the continuation of its growth plan. As part of the strategy, the business will look to diversify its current offer and boost its French operations via a new logistics centre at Saint-Astier, near Bordeaux, to be opened in September 2016.
Having grown in France via both physical and digital sales and the promotion of its brand on national media, the company is now eyeing the West African market after sealing a partnership with fellow corporate Compagnie Française d'Afrique de l'Ouest.
Put together, growth within and outside France should push its 320-strong store network up to 600 establishments over the next seven years, employing a combined 3,000 in direct and indirect jobs.
Previous funding
According to unquote" data, Beauty Success was first backed by private equity in June 2000, when Qualium Investissement bought a 27.25% stake in the business in a growth capital deal.
In October 2008, the French firm divested its holding to Ouest Croissance via a secondary purchase. As a minority shareholder, Ouest invested alongside the founding Georges family to support the first few steps of the company's current expansion plan.
Company
Founded by Nicole Georges in 1973, Beauty Success operates a network of beauty and hairdressing salons and alternative medicine centres in France. Headquartered in Périgueux, the business sells beauty products from hundreds of brands through 320 physical stores and a dedicated website.
