Swedish carry tax: IK Investment Partners wins latest case
Björn Savén and 14 other key people at IK Investment Partners have won the latest round in their ongoing dispute with the Swedish tax authority.
The administrative court has ruled in favour of IK due to Skatteverket, the Swedish tax authority, not having conveyed the basis for its decision to impose additional tax in a correct manner.
The raised tax assessment would have meant an additional tax bill of close to SEK 1.7bn. Skatteverket had previously claimed that IK, one of Sweden's largest private equity firms and the owner of care company Attendo, had failed to meet its tax obligations.
Partners at Altor received an additional tax bill of SEK 500m for the 2008 income year last month, while Skatteverket announced its decision to tax EQT with a SEK 670m tax bill at the end of August.
