Karma Ventures leads €3m round for TrademarkNow
Estonia-based venture capital firm Karma Ventures has backed online trademark management platform TrademarkNow in a fourth fundraising round.
Other investors in the round include Balderton Capital and Montiko. An additional €2m loan has been provided by Finnish state-owned financing company Finnvera.
With the fresh capital, the Helsinki-based firm intends to develop its platform and expand operations.
In February 2016, Karma held a first close on €40m for its inaugural fund, Karma Ventures I.
Previous funding
In August 2012, Lifeline Ventures structured a first seed funding round for the Finland-based trademark operator, with funding amounting to $250,000, which was used to establish the company's platform.
Twelve months later, Lifeline structured an early-stage funding round for the firm, amounting to $400,000 and intended to help the company focus on its growth plans.
In May 2014, Balderton led a $3.5m series-A round for TrademarkNow. Existing angel investors Lifeline and Tekes also participated in the round. The capital was used to hire new staff and grow a global presence.
Company
Based in Helsinki, TrademarkNow was launched by a former trademark lawyer in 2012. The firm is a web-based trademark management platform providing trademark clearance, risk scores and downloadable reports. Clients include companies, law firms and branding agencies.
The company employs a staff of 37 across Helsinki, the US, Ireland, the UK and Germany.
