Santander's Tresmares launches €175m private equity fund
Banco Santander has established Tresmares Capital, a new private capital platform, to invest in Spanish SMEs with high-growth potential.
The platform will launch a private equity fund with a €175m target and a private debt vehicle with a €900m target.
The funds will invest in companies generating EBITDA in the €1-7m range and operating in a variety of sectors, with a special focus on technology and healthcare.
Banco Santander will provide 40% of the private equity fund's capital and will commit up to €900m to the private debt fund.
The platform will be directed by a team of managers with experience in private equity and transaction structuring, led by Qualitas Equity partners Borja Pérez Arauna and Borja Oyarzábal.
This project follows the launch of Smart Fund, a private debt vehicle with capital of €620m, which Santander launched in 2019 to provide Spanish businesses with long-term financing to boost their growth, sustainability, innovation and digitalisation.
