Rothschild et al. lead €34.4m series-B for MedLumics
A venture capital syndicate, led by Edmond de Rothschild Investment Partners (EdRip), has invested €34.4m in Spanish healthcare device manufacturer MedLumics.
New venture capital investors participated in the round, including Italian GP Innogest and Ireland-based Seroba Life Sciences, alongside an undisclosed strategic investor. Furthermore, existing investors Ysios Capital Partners and Caixa Capital Risc also provided financing.
As part of the deal, EdRip partner Olivier Litzka and his peers Claudio Rumazza from Innogest and James Green from Seroba will join the company's board of directors.
The company is keen on using the capital injection to boost product development and conduct several clinical trials for its proprietary catheter.
Previous funding
In December 2011, Spanish venture capital firm Ysios led a €3.5m series-A for the business alongside Caixa Capital Risc.
Company
Founded in 2009 and headquartered in Madrid, MedLumics develops cardiac-related medical devices. The company's flagship product is the AblaView catheter, focused on the treatment of atrial fibrillation and other arrhythmias.
