
Abac acquires Heineken's Spanish subsidiary in MBO
Spanish private equity house Abac has wholly acquired Heineken's Casual Beer & Food Grupo de Restauración division via a management buyout

Abac is a Barcelona-based mid-cap private equity house managed by Oriol Pinya, Borja Martínez de la Rosa and Javier Rigau. It was spun out of Apax Partners Espana in 2015. The GP held a final close on €320m for its maiden vehicle in May 2016. This is Abac's fifth acquisition in Spain.

The Beer & Food business is Heineken Spain's casual dining and catering arm. The business manages some international licences such as the American hamburger chain Carl's Jr in Spain, Gambrinus, Cervecería Cruz Blanca, Official Irish Pub and the brands La Chelinda and Índalo Tapas.
