
EQT-backed Saur increases stake in Emalsa
EQT-backed Saur has increased its stake in Spanish water utility operator Emalsa from 33% to 66%.
The acquisition was made by Saur via its Spanish subsidiary Gestagua.
EQT bought French water company Saur via EQT Infrastructure III in July 2018 from BNP Paribas and BPCE, which had acquired the company via a debt restructuring process in 2013.
As a result of this acquisition, Saur and its subsidiary Gestagua will serve around a million people in Spain, where the group will generate annual revenue in excess of €100m, according to a statement.

Founded in 1993 and based in Las Palmas, Emalsa specialises in seawater desalination. The company employs 300 people and reported revenues of €52.7m in 2017.
