Magnum buys law school Isde
Magnum Capital Industrial Partners has acquired Instituto Superior de Derecho y Economía (Isde), a postgraduate law school.
Magnum has acquired a stake of aroud 70%, while the company's founders will retain the remainder, the GP told Unquote.
The acquisition was made via Digital Talent, a holding company established by Magnum in August 2020 to create an aggregation platform across the online education sector.
The holding company was created in conjunction with Magnum's acquisition of online business school Instituto superior para el desarrollo de internet (Isdi).
The GP intends to further boost Digital Talent Group's buy-and-build strategy in the coming months with potential additional acquisitions, Magnum Capital partner Alberto Bermejo told Unquote. The group is expected to generate revenues of around €50m in 2021, with an EBITDA margin in excess of 20%, he added.
To acquire Isde, Magnum has deployed equity from Magnum Capital III, which was launched with a €400m target and €450m hard-cap in December 2019. The vehicle acquires majority stakes in Iberian companies operating in the industrial and services sectors. The fund held two interim closings this year and expects to reach a final close by July 2021, the GP told Unquote.
In addition to the equity drawn down from the fund, a debt package was also provided to support the deal.
