
Fondo Italiano invests €20m in Zeis Excelsa
Fondo Italiano di Investimento has invested €20m in footwear and clothing supplier and manufacturer Zeis Excelsa SpA.
The public-private government-backed vehicle has made a capital injection of €10m alongside a convertible loan of the same value. The fund has acquired a minority stake in exchange for its €20m investment.
The capital will support the company's organic growth and plans for international retail expansion. The company also intends to extend the Bikkembergs brand (which it acquired in 2011) into women and children's footwear collections.

No senior debt was involved in the transaction.
Company
Zeis Excelsa was founded by the Pizzuti family in 1948. The company manufactures and supplies medium- and high-end footwear and clothing from premises in Italy, Slovakia and Romania. Zeis Excelsa also operates in the Far East, the Dominican Republic and India in partnership with local producers.
Zeis Excelsa employs 630 members of staff and has headquarters in Montegranaro. In 2011 the company reported an annual turnover of €140m.
