
HIG Europe acquires Centros Único
HIG Europe Capital Partners has acquired Spanish laser hair removal business Centros Único.
The company is looking to implement an international expansion strategy under HIG's tenure.
Following completion of the deal, Centros Único founders Azucena Rubio and Jorge Cabrero will retain stakes in the business.
HIG has previously invested in the laser hair removal sector, leading a $16m round for US-based Ideal Image in May 2006. The company was sold to trade buyer Steiner Leisure for $175m in November 2011.
The Centros Único deal marks HIG's second Spanish investment in the space of a few months. The firm joined various creditors in taking control of N+1 Mercapital-backed cosmetics retailer Bodybell in April.

Founded in 2011 and headquartered in Malaga, Centros Único provides permanent laser hair removal. The company has a headcount of 211.
Centros Único has a network of 156 centres across Spain, Portugal, the United Kingdom, Italy, Germany, Switzerland and Mexico. Of these, 21 are owned by the business, while the remaining centres are operated on a franchise basis.

Jaime Bergel is managing director of HIG and oversees the firm's Spanish activities. Azucena Rubio and Jorge Cabrero are founders of Centros Único.
