
Fondo Italiano backs Marsilli
Fondo Italiano di Investimento has injected €10m into winding and automatic assembly systems provider Marsilli & Co in exchange for a minority stake.
The investment will underpin the international expansion of the firm into existing and new markets, alongside a heavier focus on research and development.
Previous funding
In 1990, ARCA Merchant bought the firm for €2.74m through the vehicle Arca Impresa Duemila. In 2002, Consilium private Equity via Kairos Partners Private Equity Fund along with Interbanca Investimenti acquired 48% stake in Marsilli for an undisclosed amount, in a deal which saw ARCA exit the firm. In 2007, Consilium and Interbanca Investimenti sold their stake in Marsilli to Parati family for €23m.
Company
Founded in 1938 and based in Castelleone, Cremona, Marsilli is a winding machine producer. The company also provides solutions for factory automation of components.
The company employs around 260 members of staff and predicted to close 2012 with revenues in excess of €50m. Marsilli has commercial ties with China, the US and Germany.
