
Astorg's Megadyne bolts on Sampla
Astorg Partners- and Fondo Italiano d’Investimento-backed Megadyne, an Italian supplier of rubber belts and pulleys to the industrials sector, has wholly acquired competitor Sampla Group.
Following completion of the deal, Sampla will continue to operate as a separate brand under the management of its vendors, the Depaoli family.
The bolt-on is Megadyne's first since Astorg invested in the companyn last year. The business previously acquired Turkish company Rultrans in October 2013.
Astorg acquired a majority stake in Megadyne from Fondo Italiano and the company's family owners in June 2014. The deal, worth more than €400m, marked the Astorg's first Italian investment. The GP drew capital from Astorg V, a €1.05bn vehicle that closed in 2011.
Fondo Italiano previously acquired a minority stake in Megadyne for €20m in 2012. The investment was designed to underpin the firm's international growth.

Founded in 1962 and headquartered in Agrate Brianza, near Milan, Sampla manufactures customisable conveyor belts for use in the food-processing, logistics and textiles industries. The business has an additional production facility in the US.
