Omnes Capital injects €4m into Futuris
Omnes Capital has provided Futuris, an Italian developer of biomass-powered co-generation plants, with €4m of growth capital.
Omnes invested in Futuris via its Capenergie 2 fund, a cleantech-focused vehicle that held an interim close on €120.5m in May 2011. The GP has earmarked a further €10m for follow-on investments in the business.
This is Capenergie 2's 11th investment, and one of the few Italian deals performed by traditionally France-focused Omnes. The GP's latest deal in the peninsula to be recorded by unquote" was a 2011 investment in industrial and special graphic papers manufacturer Favini.
Futuris will use the fresh capital to work towards the development of three new power stations. The company is aiming to develop the equivalent of 54 MW of installed capacity by 2016, for a total investment of €220m.
