
UK Watch: 2010 activity ahead of 2009 at halfway mark
Large buyout activity in the UK has surpassed the whole of 2009 at the halfway mark, according to the latest unquote” UK Watch.
]After suffering a severe drought in 2009, the market for deals worth over €150m has undergone a rapid transformation in the early months of this year. Total value for larger deals was just €5bn, whereas 2010 has already seen buyout values hit €6bn.
By comparison, small buyouts, which were not as adversely impacted by the global recession, have seen a more subdued recovery. However, there are still clear signs of improvement. Value reached €1.4bn in the first six months of this year, and is set to beat the €1.5bn seen for the whole of 2009.
