Private equity shows interest in Avolon
Press reports today suggest that CVC, Cinven and Oak Hill Capital Partners are poised to take a joint controlling stake in the Irish aircraft leasing business Avolon in a deal worth over $500m.
The stake is being sold by Irish entrepreneur Domhnal Slattery. The deal is dependent on clearance from the European Commission, due within the coming weeks.
Slattery, who originally worked for Guinness Peat Aviation, went on to create International Aviation Management, which he sold to RBS in 2001. He subsequently moved into private equity investment, setting up Claret Capital.
