
CBPE backs Hollywood Bowl buyout by AMF
CBPE Capital has backed the acquisiton and subsequent merger of Hollywood Bowl by AMF Bowling, with a £20m investment.
This is the first investment for CBPE's FUND VIII, a £405m vehicle closed in January 2010. AMF will retain a majority stake in the group, which will operate 42 bowling businesses across the UK with a £60m turnover.
AMF entered the UK market in the 1960s and is now the country's third largest bowling operator in terms of turnover. Hollywood Bowl is a division of pub and restaurants operator Mitchells & Butlers plc.
