BC's Mergermarket Group acquires TIM Group
Mergermarket Group, a portfolio company of BC Partners and the parent company of unquote", has acquired investment advisory platform TIM Group.
Mergermarket expects the acquisition to extend its reach in the area of equity technology and analytics, notably complementing its existing Dealreporter platform to provide insight on live corporate events.
Mergermarket owner BC did not inject additional equity to finance the acquisition. Other terms of the transaction were undisclosed.
BC acquired Mergermarket from Pearson Group in December 2013 for £382m. BC emerged as the successful bidder following news in September 2013 that several private equity firms were courting the business, including HgCapital and Advent International.
Pearson had acquired Mergermarket from Beringea in August 2006 through its subsidiary, Financial Times Group, according to unquote" data.
Following the 2013 deal, Mergermarket proceeded with several bolt-on acquisitions. Mergermarket bought Perfect Information for £26m in June 2014 and New York-based publisher The Law Report Group the following month. It then acquired the unquote" and AVCJ private equity titles from Incisive Media in September 2015, before bolting on risk management information business C6 Intelligence in November of that year. In January 2016, it acquired Creditflux, a business intelligence company focused on credit funds and collateralised loan obligations.
No additional equity or debt was required to fund the Creditflux purchase, as was the case for Mergermarket's previous bolt-on of C6 Intelligence, unquote" reported at the time.
