
VC-backed 3V sold to SafeCharge for €14.5m
Balderton Capital- and Atlas Venture-backed 3V Transaction Services, an Ireland-based provider of pre-paid charge cards, has been acquired by listed trade buyer SafeCharge for €14.5m.
The deal is intended to expand SafeCharge's geographic presence and build on its existing products in the alternative payments segment.
The acquirer stated it was attracted to the deal by the rate of uptake for pre-paid cards across Europe.
Previous funding
Atlas venture led a €20m series-A for 3V in November 2006, with Benchmark Capital Europe also taking part in the round.
