
Accel et al. in $45m round for Alfresco Software
Accel Partners, SAP Ventures, Mayfield Fund and Sageview Capital have invested $45m in Alfresco Software, a UK-based content management provider.
The fresh capital will enable Alfresco to invest in its sales team and marketing activity for its software-as-a-service product.
Sageview was the lead investor in the round, which brings the total amount raised by Alfresco to $65.4m.
The backers stated they were attracted to the company by its management team and strong growth figures.
Previous investment
In 2005, Accel provided $2m of early-stage funding for Alfresco. The following year, Accel and Mayfield Fund injected a further $8m into the company. In January 2008, the existing backers joined a $19m round led by SAP Ventures alongside Mayfield Fund.

Based in Maidenhead and founded in 2005, Alfresco is a provider of enterprise content management systems including document management, record management and web content management.
The company has 1,800 active customers in 212 countries with clients including Amnesty International, Eurostar International, Nasa and Sony Entertainment.
