NorthEdge invests £15m in Roberts Jackson
NorthEdge Capital has invested £15m in UK-based legal firm Roberts Jackson.
Roberts Jackson will use the capital to add to its team and capitalise on recent legislation that has resulted in increased opportunities for mergers and acquisitions in the legal industry.
Capital for the transaction was drawn from NorthEdge's £225m maiden vehicle, which held its final close in March last year.
Following the deal, Paul Hewitt will join the company as chairman, with Nick Townsend taking on the role of finance director.
The deal is the seventh made from NorthEdge Fund I and brings the total amount deployed to £100m. The fund has been particularly active in recent months, investing £11.1m in data management software company Utiligroup in June and acquiring Accrol Papers, a UK manufacturer of tissue products, for £66m earlier this month.
Company
Founded in 2009, Cheshire-based Roberts Jackson is a legal firm specialising in occupational disease litigation. The firm has a headcount of more than 200.

NorthEdge managing partner Grant Berry will take a seat on the board as a non-executive director. The GP's investment manager, Phil Frame, will also join the board as an observer. Director Jon Pickering also worked on the deal. Karen Jackson is CEO of Roberts Jackson and Paul Hewitt is the company's chairman.
