
Albion exits Orchard Portman
Albion Ventures has sold Orchard Portman House Hospital, a mental health hospital based in south west England, to trade buyer Cygnet Health Care.
Following completion of the deal the hospital will be rebranded as Cygnet Hospital Taunton and focus on psychiatric care.
Under Albion’s tenure, Orchard Portman constructed a 23-bed extension to its existing building.
In December 2014 Albion exited Oakland Care Centre, a care home for the elderly, generating 2x returns. In July last year, the firm also invested £16m in two UK-based care homes for the elderly, to be managed by Berkley Care Group.
Previous funding
Albion invested £6.5m in Orchard Portman in 2010 and over the course of its tenure invested a total of £8.4m.
In March 2013 the business sold Nelson House to Sussex Partnership NHS Foundation Trust and Care UK for £8m, generating a £2m profit for Albion.
