
Octopus and Notion back Shopa with $11m
Octopus Investments and Notion Capital have invested $11m in a series-A funding round for Shopa, a London-based e-commerce platform.
The investment will fund the launch of the service, which is currently only available in the US and UK, in India and China.
According to Octopus, the deal marks the largest ever series-A round for a UK start-up.
Last year, Notion and Octopus both took part in a $7.5m series-A for another London-based business, advertising technology platform Adbrain.

Founded in 2012, London-headquartered Shopa is an e-commerce platform incorporating a social media element that allows users to discover and share products. The company provides retailers with social analytics, in addition to an online marketplace.

Luke Hakes, a principal at Octopus, has a seat on the board at Shopa. Peter Janes is CEO of Shopa.
