Phoenix invests in Just Childcare
Phoenix Equity Partners has invested in Just Childcare, a UK-based operator of day nurseries.
The investment will enable Just Childcare to fund its acquisitive growth strategy.
The firm stated it was attracted to the deal by the potential for consolidation and increasing customer demand within the day nursery sector.
Phoenix was introduced to the off-market deal as a result of its existing relationship with the business's co-founder, David Johnson, whom it worked alongside after investing in Acorn Care & Education.
In January 2010 Phoenix sold Acorn to Ontario Teachers' Pension Plan in a deal reportedly worth £150m, which was understood to have generated 4x money.
Company
Founded in 2004 and headquartered in Worsley, Greater Manchester, Just Childcare is an operator of child daycare centres. The business currently operates six centres in north-west England, with a seventh due to open soon.
People
