
Northzone leads $7m series-C for Space Ape Games
Northzone has led a $7m series-C round for Space Ape Games, a London-based mobile gaming company.
Space Ape, which produces the Samurai Siege mobile game, will use the capital to expand its headcount by 30-40 over the next six months and invest in marketing.
Existing backers Accel Partners, Initial Capital and Connect Ventures also took part in the round, with the announcement coinciding with the launch of the company's second game Rival Kingdoms: Age of Ruins.
Following completion of the deal, Zynga and Electronic Arts' executive vice president Barry Cottle and London Venture Partners' David Gardner will take on advisory roles.
Previous funding
In August 2012, Connect provided an undisclosed sum of early-stage capital for a minority stake in Space Ape. The latest round takes the total amount raised by the business to $11m.
