VC-backed Delivery Hero acquires Carriage
Delivery Hero, a German food ordering service backed by Insight Venture Partners and other venture capital investors, has bolted on Kuwait-based food delivery company Carriage.
With the acquisition, Delivery Hero will now expand its brand in the Middle East region.
This is the sixth bolt-on for the Berlin-based online food delivery platform since Insight Ventures and a number of other VC investors backed the company in 2011. Since then, Delivery Hero has raised several rounds, most recently netting $350m in September 2014 in a series-G round involving Insight Venture Partners, Kite Ventures and Vostok Nafta.
Delivery Hero acquired Damejidlo and Jidloted from the Czech Republic and Slovakia in January 2015; it also bought MyLorry in April 2015, pizza.de in August 2014 and point-of-sale app provider 9Cookies in June 2014.
