Marlin-backed Talkwalker acquires Nielsen Social
Marlin Equity Partners portfolio company Talkwalker has acquired social insights software provider Nielsen Social.
Marlin has acquired the company and will merge it with Talkwalker.
The GP is currently investing from Marlin Equity V, a $2.5bn vehicle with a mandate to invest in both North American and European technology companies.
In January 2018, the firm acquired a majority stake in Luxembourg-headquartered media analytics company Talkwalker for an undisclosed sum. The company's management team retained a minority stake in the new holding company. The capital was used to open new offices and increase the workforce from 100 to 175.
Under Marlin's ownership, Talkwalker plans to hire an additional 100 employees, about half of whom will be in Luxembourg, and enhance the company's AI and machine-learning capabilities.
The acquisition of Nielsen is expected to enhance Talkwalker's AI platform to expand its offering in consumer, category and audience insights.
