Point Nine et al. in €1.5m seed round for Deskbookers
German venture capital house Point Nine Capital has led a €1.5m seed round for a Dutch booking service of meeting spaces, Deskbookers, alongside a number of business angels.
The round was backed by Dutch entrepreneurs including former Booking.com chief marketing officer Arthur Kosten and Marcel Beemsterboer, who co-founded and headed e-commerce business Emesa.nl.
This marks the first institutional round raised by Deskbookers since its foundation in 2013. The fresh capital will be used by the business to recruit new staff for its product and marketing teams.
During 2016, the company intends to expand from its Netherlands base to five countries and improve its existing mobile offering and venue management system. Growth is expected for the company in the coming years given the rise in demand for co-working and flexible office spaces.
Point Nine drew equity from its third fund, which closed on €55m in June 2015. The VC, which aims to be the first institutional investor in the companies it backs, did not disclose its contribution for Deskbookers but Point Nine Capital III usually invests in the €100,000-1m region.
The vehicle was used during a $3m series-A for Berlin-headquartered mobile advertising specialist Remerge in August, when Point Nine invested alongside fellow VC Fonds Technologie Berlin.
