Main Capital buys Hype Innovation in SBO
Main Capital has acquired a majority stake in Germany-based Hype Innovation, an enterprise management software specialist, from previous owner Kennet Partners.
The GP is currently investing via Main Capital V, which closed on €236.5m in 2017.
The fund does investments with an initial ticket size of €3-5m and add-ons of up to €20m.
The GP intends to pursue strategic M&A opportunities in the innovation management sector and adjacent markets, according to a statement by Main Capital. The firm specialises in software investments, and has acquired GoConnectIT, Enovation and SDB Ayton in the Netherlands, and Germany-based Cleversoft since the end of 2017, according to Unquote Data.

Founded in a spin-out from DaimlerChrysler in 2001, Hype Innovation is a software firm in the enterprise innovation segment. Hype helps customers increase revenue, save on costs, improve processes and accelerate their digital transformation processes.
The business is headquartered in Bonn and employs 120 people. Airbus, BASF, Bayer, Bombardier, Bosch, Continental, Deutsche Post DHL Group, Fujitsu, Liebherr and Mattel are some of the company's 220 clients.
Since 2004, when the Hype product was introduced, the business has grown its revenues every year at a rate of 23%.
