eCapital commits to Turbina Energy
eCapital Entrepreneurial Partners has invested a seven-figure sum in Turbina Energy, a developer of micro wind-energy systems.
eCapital supports the development of high-technology projects, focusing on fast-growing companies in the renewable energy sector. The cleantech fund manager invested in two renewable energy companies in Q2 2012: in March that year, eCapital invested €4m in Geo-En Energy Technologies, a developer and manufacturer of geothermal systems for heating and cooling buildings; in May, power plants developer Smart Hydro Power received €2.7m.
Company
Headquartered in Unterhaching, Turbina produces small wind turbines suitable for use in both strong and weak winds. The turbines achieve power production at wind speeds of 1.5m/s up to 55m/s, according to the company. The turbines have a noise emission value of 34dB and can therefore be used on roofs in residential and commercial areas without planning permission.
