
Phenomen Ventures et al. invest $7.5m in HelloFresh
Phenomen Ventures, Holtzbrinck Ventures and Vorwerk Ventures have backed e-commerce company HelloFresh in a $7.5m series-C financing round.
Phenomen is the lead investor in this transaction. The capital will be used to increase HelloFresh's share of the US market and push the firm's global footprint.
Holtzbrinck and Vorwerk have backed HelloFresh previously. Other existing investors in the business are Investment AB Kinnevik and start-up incubator Rocket Internet.
Overall, HelloFresh has collected $20m of funding since the firm was founded.
Phenomen backed Delivery Hero in a joint $30m funding round in July this year and also participated in past funding rounds for Foodpanda. Both start-ups follow an aggressive expansion strategy, with Foodpanda in particular acquiring a great number of rival start-ups.

HelloFresh delivers cooking recipes and ingredients to its clients. The firm is based in Berlin, but also has offices in New York, London, Amsterdam and Sydney. It employs around 100 staff.

Dominik Richter is CEO and co-founder of HelloFresh. Jessica Nilsson and Thomas Griesel are its co-founders. Rainer Maerkle led the deal for Holtzbrinck.
