Active Venture Partners hires two
Mobile start-up investor Active Venture Partners has made two new hires, resulting in headcount going from five to 10 members since 2011.
Sebastian Blum joined as partner, having previously worked as vice president of business development at Silicon Valley-based photo-viewing app Cooliris. He was responsible for corporate development with a focus on Asia. Prior to that he was managing director of T-Venture's San Francisco office, where he led investments in mobile start-ups in Europe and the US. Blum will expand Active's representation in Berlin and other German-speaking start-up hubs.
Georg Stockinger took on the role of venture adviser, having previously been managing director at Rocket Internet in Latin America. He was previously a management consultant at McKinsey & Co and was co-founder of German e-commerce start-up Casacanda. He has also privately invested in digital businesses in Germany, Spain, the UK, Mexico and Colombia.
Active is a European venture capital firm based in Spain, Germany and Scandinavia, and focuses on investing in digital start-ups. It has backed 23 companies since 2004 and has two investment vehicles: the €20m Molins Capital Inversion fund and the €50m Amerigo Innvierte Spain Ventures FCR vehicle.
Earlier this month, Active led a $2.4m round for Sweden-based app and social network Fishbrain alongside Northzone.
