
Cottonwood invests €1.6m in Clear Flight Solutions
US early-stage investor Cottonwood has led a €1.6m round for Clear Flight Solutions, a Netherlands-based robotic drone company.
The investment will allow the business to carry out various product trials, including a project at a major European airport.
Capital for the transaction was drawn from the Cottonwood Euro Technology Fund, which was launched in May 2014 to invest in Netherlands-based tech start-ups. University of Twente, PPM Oost, the Twente regional government and Thales Nederland are investors in the vehicle.

Headquartered in Twente and founded in 2012, Clear Flight Solutions develops robotic drone birds for use in the aviation, waste management and agriculture sectors. Designed to resemble a peregrine falcon, the business’s Robird product is intended to reduce the hazard and damage caused by birds. The business span out from the University of Twente, which has a strategic partnership with Cottonwood.
